Autoimmune Unstuck

If you’re tired of feeling inflamed, exhausted, or confused by conflicting health advice…

If your doctor says your labs are “normal” but you feel awful…

If you’re done guessing what your body needs—and ready to create a healthier path for yourself and your family…

You’re in the right place.

Many people with autoimmune disease are able to calm inflammation, lower their immune response, and find symptom relief through the Autoimmune Protocol, commonly called AIP.

This is so much more than a diet . . . it is so much more than a list of foods to eat and foods to avoid. It is designed for people with autoimmune diseases to discover their triggers, learn what lifestyle changes they need to make and to rebuild their health.

Transition Phase

Transition is the process of moving one’s diet to the elimination phase, with a focus on nutrient-density. This can be a gradual process or a rapid process.

What is Autoimmune Protocol (AIP)

The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) is a science-based elimination and reintroduction diet and lifestyle protocol. It focuses on repairing gut health, balancing hormones, and regulating the immune system.

The dietary component includes removing food-driven sources of inflammation and restoring nutrient density, while the lifestyle component includes approaches to sleep, stress management, movement, and connection (both with humans and nature), in order to help best manage autoimmune disease.

The Autoimmune Protocol has been used successfully alone or in combination with conventional treatments, depending on a person’s needs, and has also been the focus of medical research.

Elimination Phase

The elimination phase is what we call the period when a person is fully-compliant with eliminations following dietary transition.

There are two options for the elimination phase: Core AIP and Modified AIP.

Regardless of protocol used, elimination lasts for at least 30 days. The focus is to maintain the food eliminations while concentrating on nutrient-dense additions, with a goal to maximize healing.

Reintroduction Phase

The reintroduction phase is reached when a person has spent 30-90 days fully compliant in either Core or Modified AIP elimination and has had measurable improvements in their symptoms from their baseline, as evidenced from tracking and journaling (and/or lab testing). Ideally, there will be relief of symptoms.

The reintroduction phase leads to a diet is individualized, sustainable (both practically and socially), and nutrient-dense. It should be the least-restrictive diet that gives them the best health.
